- Sacramento County Youth Commissioner
Objective
- The Sacramento County Youth Commission is a voice for youth in local government. Youth Commissioners identify and advocate for issues and programs of importance to youth in the community.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend monthly formal Commission meetings prepared by reading the agenda and materials prior to the meeting.
- Serve on at least one Commission subcommittee.
- Volunteer for and complete Commission assignments and projects.
- Represent the Youth Commission in the community by participating in special events and community meetings.
Qualifications
- Any youth age 12 - 18 residing in Sacramento County or attending a Sacramento County middle or secondary school who demonstrates an interest in issues facing youth.
Time Commitment
- Commissioners serve three-year terms.
- Formal Commission meetings are two hours monthly.
- Commissioners, on the average, attend one to two additional meetings per month and work on assignments between meetings. The time commitment varies, but on average will be approximately 8-10 hours per month.
